Change of Idea

Whilst I had a whole idea planned for this project and filmed this, the final result didn't turn out the way that I wanted it to. I had a couple of logistical issues - things such as the film being set in a fun house yet filming in a classroom, this meant that the room needed decorating yet this wasn't possible. Another thing that led me to change my idea after filming is the cast I had for my initial film 'house of fun.' I had 7 cast yet by the time it came to filming I had 3 cast members drop out due to clashes with other school events, in order for my story to work I swapped roles around and got some last minute volunteers. Having 7 cast members meant that this was quite a challenging environment to film in and keep everyone silent so I wouldn't get any background noises etc. Another challenge I faced with my cast was the costumes, one of my characters was suppose to be a clown, he just had a rainbow curly wig on and a mask - this initially looked okay but after a while wasn't convincing and looked somewhat comically bad.

When I went to edit my raw footage and sequence it to create my final film, I noticed that I had a lot of reshoots to do, this was going to be a challenge to organise getting 7 people back in the exact same outfits. In order to combat this, I decided that my first film 'House of Fun' wasn't overly successful and didn't turn out the way that I wanted it to, so I came up with a new idea with only 2-3 characters and was set in a school. I decided to only create a film opening so that the story didn't have to go anywhere or anything be solved. This film was called 'lost traces' and the basis of this film is in 2004 a school girl goes missing and then search after many months has concluded. 20 years later, two girls are sat in a free-period and are very bored. They decide to take a walk around school to try and occupy themselves, they decide to visit a teacher yet she isn't in her room. One of the girls then needs to get her school book from the cupboard when they discover the book of the missing school girl from 20 years ago. When the girls start to hold and move the book, weird things begin to happen. This film opening idea was much easier to film and manage as the scale wasn't as big as before and I had throughly planned out camera moves and transitions to help piece the film together.
